In March 2020, South Square Centre received the news that we were successful with our application to National Lottery Heritage Fund to undertake a capital refurbishment of Grade II workers cottages as well as a three year programme of heritage activities. Thanks to money raised by National Lottery players there will be an exciting activity programme of events, traineeships, workshops and exhibitions. These will highlight local industrial heritage, Thornton as the birthplace of the Brontë’s and South Square’s own history as a grassroots cultural and arts centre.
The capital project is also supported by Arts Council England, Garfield Weston Foundation and Bradford Council.
South Square are also pleased to receive Cultural Recovery Funding as part of the Government’s £1.57m scheme to help face the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic and to ensure we have a sustainable future.
Our capital project is underway and we are pleased to give you our first building works update.
Our building contractor Dobsons Construction have been onsite since the beginning of November and have made speedy progress.
