This celebratory exhibition marking Pride month June 2023, features a ward-wide
collaboration of emerging artists from the Sound Club based at Thornton Community
Centre.
Designed to break down barriers and educate those that may be afraid to ask, this vibrant
exhibition of interactive and educational artwork is bold, unappologetic and informative in
in it’s goal to discuss LGBTQ+ experiences.
Sharing both positive and negative stories, these deeply personal works are all told by
young people experiencing these situations on a daily basis.
The Sound Club started at Beckfoot Thornton Upper School in 2021. Responding to the
needs of this community, the group expanded and in 2022 it became a post school youth
group supported by Bradford Council.
Based at Thornton Community Centre. The group, comprised of 11-19 year old’s meets on
Monday evenings 6-8pm. It gives crucial emotional and wellbeing support, as well as a safe
space to express themselves.
