Chiaroscuro (pronounced kee-aa-ruh-skyur-o) is a term used in art for the strong contrast between darkness and light that often results in dramatic scenes, strong emotional responses, and greater depth of image.

BA (Hons) Art & Design Level 5 students from Bradford School of Art explored chiaroscuro through different ideas, stories, and meanings behind their work and practice.

The group explored light and darkness within their specialisms which were: mixed media, digital, sculptural, mark making, fine art, and video installation.

Some of the students stepped out of their comfort zones to compliment the exhibition in a variety of fearless ways, including Atiyya, who facilitated her very first workshop looking at experimental Mark Making and Peter who conducted BCB radio interviews, process videos and pieces to camera.
