All are welcome to Thornton Community Library’s second poetry event to celebrate National Poetry Day which takes place on 6th October 2022.
Award-winning and widely respected poets, Nabeela Ahmed and Simon Pickles will perform their work.
Nabeela Ahmed is a writer, storyteller, multilingual poet and spoken word artist.
A highly respected teacher and performer across the region, Nabeela featured at the Keighley Arts and Film Festival in 2020. Her work has been published in England, America, Pakistan and India and had most recently worked with the National Literacy Trust on an exciting project working with local children.
Come and hear her share her work including ‘I am a Bradfordian’
Simon Pickles is a poet from Keighley. A creative passionate about marginalised communities, Simon uses poetry and spoken word as a vehicle to challenge people’s views of addiction and mental health.
He is co-founder of Spoken Worth, an alcohol-free spoken word event in Yorkshire that attracts talent from first-time readers to 50 year old veterans in performance poetry.
