£25 per person, materials included
Pastels provide an excellent starting point to those new to creating artwork and also those with limited dexterity due to the immediacy and closeness to the material, allowing quick and effective describing of any subject alongside a richness in colour.
Learn from professional artist and long-time friend of South Square Centre, Allan Brack. Allan is an experienced artist who will guide participants through various techniques of this drawing material.
The workshop will be suitable to beginners as well as those who have some experience working in the medium. All materials provided.
ABOUT ALLAN BRACK
‘My main medium is soft pastel drawings which, I call paintings because I often use them together with white emulsion paint and sometimes black Indian ink. I like heavily textured paper and sometime brown wrapping paper, always with a to n edge. I like to think my work is ethereal and poetic and is often based around seascapes, lighthouses and traditional fishing boats. Besides this I often work on a smaller more illustrative style of work, using a variety of pen, pencil, coloured pencil and wax crayons. As a therapeutic (and income generating) area of work, I like to study the faces of animal and bird life, often drawing horses, donkeys, cats and dogs for people.
I love to encourage others to create their own art, have helped several people develop their own portfolio’s for entrance to Art College Foundation courses. I am very keen to pass on what knowledge and techniques I have to others – after all, We All draw from the same well, it is in all of us!’
