An exhibition of new work by Peter Lund and Patricia Calver
Opening Saturday 4th May, 2pm – 4pm & throughout the month
All Welcome
Peter and Patricia have been connected to South Square for over 25 years as artists, volunteers, curators and served on the management committee. This exhibition is the first time they have come together to show their work.
PATRICIA CALVER
Faces, hoods, masks and anonymity have been recurring themes for me. What we see, how we are seen – looking at and looking out. Playing with paint on wooden squares reflects the photo booth of self, our passport, faceless expressions that both reveal our identity but hides our true self.
PETER LUND
When I have sufficient energy I do a spot of painting which I enjoy. I haven’t a theme other than ‘Memories and Reflections’

South Square is a collection of 19th Century workers cottages, in the old Yorkshire village of Thornton, famous for its Brontë connections and its impressive 20-arch viaduct.
Renovated as a community arts centre in 1982, South Square Centre is now home to ten studio spaces for a variety of artists, as well as a gallery, community spaces, archive, fine art framers, bar and a cafe.
The centre hosts community events and activities for all ages, including an ongoing workshop programme and provides community spaces available to hire.
