Petrykivka art – the painting soul of Ukraine. The ancient art therapy of Ukrainian peasants included in the list of intangible heritage by UNESCO. This art originated in the 18th century in the territory of the modern-day Dnipropetrovsk region (Central Ukraine).
People decorated the walls of houses, furniture, and household items with beautiful floral patterns. Artists used vegetable dyes, and later egg tempera, along with special brushes made of cat hair.
Today, it is not only a traditional art form but also a modern and evolving painting style.
