In 2016 Sapgate Gardens was a waste ground, overgrown and used for fly tipping. Inspired by three local people, Julie, Jenny and Simon, a group got together to transform it.
Since then, volunteers have cleared the land and opened it up as a space to grow fruit, veg, flowers and as a beautiful garden for all to enjoy.
Sapgate Gardens is a charity for the community. Run by passionate volunteers – skill sharing, nurture and an unwavering commitment to society has benefited many groups including local schools and community centres across the village.
The exhibition forms part of Thornton Open Gardens event and highlights the journey so far.
