The Diorama — An adventure in space and time
Louis Daguerre (1787-1851), the inventor of photography, returns for one night only to reclaim his place at the heart of European culture.
Trained as a theatrical scene painter, Daguerre developed a unique entertainment — the Diorama, which enchanted audiences in Paris and London in the years before he invented the first commercially available photograph, the Daguerreotype.
With the help of an assistant and a cunningly contrived scale model, the workings of the Diorama will be demonstrated, alongside M. Daguerre’s own account of his illustrious career.
