Viewed From A Head In Clouds

1st December – 28th January

This exhibition has given me the opportunity to focus on rendering local views and interesting corners. The scenes are from images I take with my phone while out and about, sometimes a nice country walk or just looking up at the sky anyday, it’s all worth recording and valuing.

I like to upcycle old frames as a base for paintings, pouring thick gesso over the whole frame then adding paints and pigments to create a tactile surface full of atmospheric shades.

I’m fond of the graphic style of old railway posters and classic British landscape paintings with there naturalistic drama. Blending these ideas and my own painty experiments I wanted to show how picturesque the North can be.

Born in Wales in 1982 and grew up in Leicester. Early jobs included creating craft items for sale with family. Struggled with dyslexia but became successfully self-employed selling vintage items on eBay for many years. Moved to Burnley then to Huddersfield in 2011. Graduated in fine art from Leeds Beckett uni in 2020.

Now settled in Bradford and involved in various creative roles including volunteering as a letterpress printer at Bradford Industrial Museum.

Please note: This exhibition will be in Plenty at the Square cafe
