Activities Traineeship Vacancy

South Square is looking for an enthusiastic and conscientious Heritage Activity Trainee. Applicants must be receiving universal credit and contact their work coach and express their interest in the role.

25 hours per week at national living wage £8.72 per hour | Length of contract: 6 months.

Aimed at those looking to gain experience of arts, heritage and community projects working with a variety of audiences and practitioners. This is an excellent development opportunity to work for grassroots art, community and heritage organisation South Square Centre.

As a member of the South Square team you will have a key role in the development and delivery of the activity programme, activities will include marketing (social media and print), programming and installing exhibitions, delivering (online) workshops and events.

During your traineeship you will have the opportunity to work with material from Thornton Antiquarian Societies archive as well as developing connections with local schools, colleges and care homes.

Throughout the traineeship you will receive continual support, mentoring and training to develop a range of key skills.

Call out for Trustees

South Square Centre is currently on the lookout for new Trustees to join the Charity’s voluntary board of Directors.

South Square is an arts, heritage and community centre based in 12 interconnected workers cottages in the heart of Thornton’s Conservation area in Bradford.

Over the last 3 years, the organisation has been through transformational development; securing a Community Asset Transfer from Bradford Council and undergoing a full capital refurbishment. The wider community has been integral to the success of the project. The centre has garnered support from schools, colleges, care homes, and local community groups as well as businesses and a range of funders including Arts Council England, National Lottery and Bradford Council.

South Square is now in a strong position and excited to look to the future and be part of Bradford District’s bid to be City of Culture in 2025. If you are interested in developing the organisation’s strategy and ensuring South Square has the widest community benefit possible then please get in touch!

We would be particularly interested in hearing from people from the local area, people with experience in finance/accountancy, facilities management and/or community development. We would like to attract applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences and we are particularly interested to hear from applicants that are currently underrepresented at Board level (People from different racial and ethic backgrounds younger ages, with disabilities, LGBT+).
