Join us for a FREE 2-hour still life drawing session led by Zoe Maxwell at South Square Centre.
You are invited to bring a special object from your home to include in the arrangement we will be responding to. This could be a special book or diary, a trinket box that was handed down, a favourite vase, or an old teddy – anything that you have a special connection with. This ties in with our current exhibition in the gallery named ‘Home Is Not A Place But We Are Home.’
In this session you will learn different drawing skills by taking part in various drawing exercises, including quick-fire drawings, drawing using different materials, and longer exercises focusing on details.
After experimenting, you can chose which material you wish to work with for the final part of the session.
All materials included, but you are welcome to bring your own.
Tickets are FREE, or pay as you wish.

Come along to this marquetry workshop to create your own unique piece to take home.
In this four-hour workshop (with a 30min break) you will select a wooden base shape (pre cut), and use the materials provided to design a graphic pattern for the front.
Ran by Emily Parkin, she will assist you to use a steel ruler and a craft knife, where you will carefully cut out the sections of the design from a range of coloured wooden veneers, and apply them to the front of your base.
You can make this base into what you wish, as you can decide if this will be a picture holder, or a vase etc. Once decided what you would like your holder to hold, you can drill the correct size holes into the top before applying a wax finish and buffing the whole piece to bring out all the colours and wood grain.
£45 per person – includes all materials and equipment usage.
Note – you are welcome to bring your own lunch for the break, but feel free to grab food and drink from the cafe onsite – Plenty at the Square
