Queering The Brontës

In February 2021, head of the board Rosie Freeman and director of The Brick Box, produced a 1 hour radio programme for LGBTQ+ Month, in collaboration with South Square Centre.

The programme is a queer reading of the lives and works of the Brontë sisters, and a true enthusiasts exploration into the the lives of some of Thornton’s most famous past residents and their relevance today. Listen again to the show below.

The hour-long radio show was aired on BCB Radio and featured tracks by Gossip, Major Lazer & Amber Coffman, Kate Bush and The Lost Words: Spell Songs, Julie Fowlis, Karine Polwart, Seckou Keita, Kris Drever, Rachel Newton, Beth Porter, Jim Molyneux And Kerry Andrew.
