South Square organised a series of online weaving workshops led by local artist Anne Crowther teaching various techniques involved in the practice of weaving.
The sessions took place during lockdown and were aimed at individuals who might not have been familiar with using video conferencing software such as Zoom.
South Square approached the Art Health Champions, a referral group from the local GP, for people with long term health conditions or those who were referred by social prescribing services. The group normally meet at Thornton Community Centre but had not met in over 12 months when we conducted the workshops.
South Square provided tutoring on using zoom and loaned devices to those who were not connected to the internet at home.
10-12 participants were involved in the 3 session course, which covered weaving landscapes, weaving in the round and basic weaving techniques.
