Monday 19th to Friday 23rd August
10am to 3.30pm
Followed by celebratory showcase on Saturday 24th August 1pm to 3pm
You’re invited to join us for a creative summer school at South Square Centre in Thornton!
South Square is embarking on an exciting project in partnership with artists Nelson + Woodward. This project for young people will reconsider the disused 145 year old Thornton Viaduct, re-imagining the public space as a space for performance, public art, or something new!
You will work with socially engaged practitioners Nelson + Woodward to inspire temporary interventions to take place on the viaduct. You will develop leadership skills, build confidence, grow aspirations, and have the opportunity to develop a large-scale commission for Bradford 2025.
This free summer school is aimed at 11 to 16 year olds.
What South Square will provide:
- Creative sessions and workshops
- Lunch and snacks for each day
- A trip to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, including all transport
- Return Bus fare to South Square, if required
What we need from you:
- Commitment to attend on each full day, plus the sharing event on Saturday
- Enthusiasm and respect for all participants and facilitators
- If you would like to take part in this FREE summer school, please get in touch with Gemma for further details gemma@kalasangam.org or 07506 768657.
The deadline to apply is Sunday 11th August. Places are limited. We’d love to hear from you and if you have any questions, do get in touch!
