Home Is Not A Place But We Are Home

The home is a source of inspiration and contention, it can be a physical space or an invented concept. By responding to ideas of home and domesticity in surprising or unconventional ways or citing the home as a site of exploration and identity making allows the artists on display to re-imagine what or who makes a home.

Lizzie is a self-taught artist based in Manchester. Her work primarily focuses on still life which she transforms from ordinary, everyday scenes from around the home into dynamic pieces through her vibrant and colourful application of colour.

Touch Points

‘Touch Points’ is a group exhibition of digital interruptions, centred around the human body and how our experiences are shaped by technology. The artists in this exhibition use technology to offer an alternative perspective of our living experiences.  

As a viewer, and a participant in this exhibition, you will be the catalyst to the many of the works. When exploring the space, take note of the commands, as the work relies on touch, sound and human interaction.

Your presence and action within the space is mirrored within the work. You become part of the technology, completing the circuit which is needed for the art to be experienced at its full potential. 

‘Touch Points’ encourages us to question what our connections with digital technology are. With new and varied uses of technology, this exhibition questions how this is reflected back to us on a constant and day-to-day basis, how we use technology in new ways to store or conjure up memories, and how our movements and natural rhythms are affected by digital interruptions. 

Artists include, Archie Brooks, Michaela French, Aron Spall and Matthew Vaughan.

Craig Says: ‘My work explores the intersections of consumerism, capitalism, and the pharmaceutical industry, using the blister pack as a central motif. This everyday object symbolizes both care and control, reflecting how our lives are commodified under late capitalism.

Through painting, I examine the rituals of consumption and health, highlighting our reliance on pharmaceuticals while critiquing the profit-driven systems behind them. By blending clinical aesthetics with human textures, I aim to disrupt the invisibility of these systems, inviting viewers to question their role in cycles of consumption and control.

My work is a call to awareness, reclaiming agency through art and challenging the narratives of health and happiness sold to us.’
